Incorporating Cutting-Edge Technology with Wastewater Management
PENSACOLA - ITGULFCOAST, an Information Technology Association for the Gulf Coast, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thursday September 22 at the new Escambia County Utilities Authorities (ECUA) Central Water Reclamation Facility (CWRF). Larry Scott, head of technology for ECUA, will lead us on a guided tour of the new facility. He will present and discuss the cutting-edge technology incorporated into the new ECUA location.
Join Larry Scott, Head of Technology for ECUA, as he discusses the latest technology in wastewater management. He will talk about how ECUA built the site to withstand and remain operable during natural disasters. We will tour the complex as he explains some of the vast computer/electrical systems that control the plant, which includes at least 10 electrical buildings, each housing a computer for a particular process.
About the ECUA Facility
The Central Water Reclamation Facility began operation on August 30, 2010. The $316-million dollar, state-of-the-art facility, is the largest public works project in the history of Escambia County. It is an AWT (advanced wastewater treatment) facility and is capable of handling 22.5 million gallons of wastewater per day. Gulf Power and International Paper use the reclaimed water. The new facility has a unique safety design enabling it to withstand Category 5 hurricane force winds of up to 190 mph.
Meeting Details
This meeting will be held at the Escambia County Utilities Authority’s, Central Water Reclamation Facility, 2980 Old Chemstand Road, Cantonment, FL, 32533. The tour begins at 11:00 and lunch is not included with this event.
Drive north Chemstrand Road and go straight across County Rd. 297 (at intersection of Old and New Chemstrand Road just before the Solutia entrance and fitness center. Stay on this road straight into the Plant’s Administration building parking lot. Park in the administration parking lot and go up the stairs on either side of the building.
